Károlyi Mihály Secondary School is a bilingual vocational state school specialising in economics. The school is easily accessible, therefore, it has students from Budapest and even from towns, villages outside the capital. The school currently has 657 students and 67 staff members which make it a medium-sized institution in national comparison. The school’s training program includes: Economics, Management, Finances and Accounting besides teaching the compulsory subjects of the matura (national school leaving) examination such as History, Mathematics, Hungarian Grammar and Literature and Foreign Languages. All students learn two foreign languages in order to have better chances on the job market later on and a wider intercultural understanding. The bilingual training program is the most popular as it provides an opportunity to master the English language at advanced level. Bilingual students study a number of subjects (among them History and Economics) in English. The school’s defined goal is to maintain a flexible, effective and high quality educational activity amid the constantly changing circumstances, providing such professional, linguistic and cultural knowledge to the students that is up-to-date and allows them to enter higher education and the job market. It is a basic requirement for each colleague to renew teaching methods constantly, open their minds up to cooperation with other teachers and professionals across borders, join projects in a variety of fields, and the present project is also an opportunity to meet that goal. The key persons running the project are Anna Kertész and Anita Kéri. Anna is a teacher of English, French and Civilisation of the English speaking world. She is an energetic member of staff with experience in international projects, currently senior ambassador in the EPAS programme. Anita is a teacher of German and History. She has been involved in the school’s tendering activities for a number of years. As a history teacher her expertise is relevant in terms of the main objectives of the project. Both of them have experience in utilising museums and connected methodology to aid the learning process and regularly take groups to museum visits. They are supported by members of the tendering team (Csaba Módos and Gábor Gere), both of them History teachers. As back-up persons they can take over any project responsibilities if necessary. The school has been involved in internationalisation projects and activities for more than two decades now. The tendering team has successfully implemented several Erasmus+ projects, and previously a Comenius project as well. They are aware of the key principals, objectives, procedures, requirements of the Erasmus programme. With able communicators and organisers the smooth and creative implementation of the project is secured. Also the history teachers have relevant know-how concerning the methodology of museum pedagogy, as visiting museums is part of the scheduled curricular activities.
