The Hungarian Museum Corner was established in the library of our school. During the last two academic years, teachers and students collected several different items to exhibit. Most of them are from the communist era of Hungary, but we have some very interesting pictures and objects even from the end of the 1800’s. While collecting and categorizing the items, we heard a lot of interesting stories from the grandparents, parents. It was a nice and sometimes scary experience to see how children were treated or punished 50, 100 years ago. Also, students had the opportunity of working on an exhibition, from the very beginning (to find the appropriate place, to display the objects in a proper way, to make the place attractive) to the last step (to show and present it to the visitors).
Lithuania
Greece The students were asked to make the plan and decide upon the variety and the quality of the exhibits, the categorization of the exhibits, the ways they should follow in order to promote and support this action Actually, the ways proposed were: a brochure with information about the historical background, oral or written interviews and making use of the uniforms to take photos. A great number of items were collected. The students categorized, labeled the photos and they exhibited them inside the school in the most proper way. The exhibition lasted for three days. The event was published to the local community, authorities and schools were invited to visit it. We had the pleasure to welcome the Mayor of the town and a great number of students and teachers. Students involved in this project welcomed visitors in turns, let them take photos, put on school uniforms, write in ink pens, browse the old school books and explained the purposes of this specific activity as part of a whole European Project. Purpose:
Students got intimate with museum spaces.
They learned how to protect and respect these places.
They attempted to develop strategies of promoting work.
Romania
During the year 2019, the students of our school found information about the evolution of education in Romania. Accompanied by teachers, they visited the exhibition "Old school" in the History Museum in Galati and learned about the rules regarding how to create a museum. Very enthusiastically, they collected objects to create a Museum of education in our school. The museum was visited by teachers and students from partner schools, who came to our country in February 23rd -28th, 2020. Unfortunately, the pandemic and the closure of schools prevented the visit of our museum by students from other schools.
Portugal
During the first exchange of groups of puplis held in Portugal in February 2019, the host school (Agrupamento the Escolas de Infias Vizela) prepared a Museum Corner in the Library. The exhibition was open to the local community and during a month pupils had the chance to see and handle various items from previous education decades. Later, students were asked to use museography techniques concerning the cataloguing and the description of the selected objects in order to create a digital collection.
