Casa da Memória - House of Memory - is an interpretation center that exposes, interprets and communicates material and immaterial testimonies of the culture, territory and history of Guimarães. Before the visit, students were asked to do a research using online tools, books or interviews to local people to discover the identity of Guimarães territory and its people. Then each student prepared a powerpoint presentation with the highlights of the research. The best presentations were selected to share with the Erasmus group during the short term exchange of pupils.
When the Erasmus group arrived, Portuguese students presented the Nicolinas festivities (held by the local students in honor to Saint Nicolas) and king Afonso achievements (first king of Portugal, borned in Guimarães). During the visit, students had the chance to explore objects connected to the Nicolinas and the legends connected to Afonso reign. The visit was oriented by a museographer that pointed out some important aspects of organizing and cataloguing an exhibition, mainly the preservation and recreation of old photos connected to the memories of the town. After the visit, Portuguese students worked together with Erasmus group in the building of a sculpture with card boxes, showing different aspects of school in partner countries, in the past and modern days. |
Museu Alberto SampaioMuseu Alberto SampaioAlberto Sampaio Museum was founded in 1928 to house the art and other objects belonging to the former Collegiate Church of Nossa Senhora da Oliveira and other churches and convents in Guimarães. It is situated in the heart of the old historic centre of the city, which has been classified as World Heritage. The museum is housed in three areas that once belonged to the Collegiate Church of Nossa Senhora da Oliveira: the Chapter House, the Cloister and the Priory. The Cloister is an unusual example of Portuguese architecture, both in the way it was constructed around the apse of the church and its irregular shape. The Museum contains collections of great interest: sculptures, painting, frescoes and textiles.
Before the visit, students were asked to do a research using online tools, books or interviews to local people to discover mouments classified by UNESCO as Worl Heritage all around the world and in Guimarães. Then each student prepared a powerpoint presentation with the highlights of the research. The best presentations was selected to share with the Erasmus group during the short term exchange of pupils. During the visit, students had the chance to explore objects that are part of the Museum collection using the interactive Action Bound App created by the teaching team together with the Museum staff for the students, aiming the understanding of some of the pieces of the collection as well as the discovery of the monument. After the visit the students were asked how to organize a digital collection with education items from the Museum Corner created in school for the purpose of MEDE Erasmus project. They were asked to use museography techniques concerning the cataloguing and the description of the selected objects. |

The Museum of Visual Arts of Galați, România is the first museum of Romanian contemporary art from our country (and the only one until 2002, when a second one was established in Bucharest), which was conceived to show the newest trends in plastic arts. Inaugurated in 1967, the museum holds in its patrimony Romanian works of art from the second half of the 19th century and the 20th century made by artists such as Teodor Aman, Nicolae Grigorescu, Theodor Pallady, Gheorghe Petrașcu, Nicolae Tonitza.
